About Hollow Brook Golf Club

All members are required to check in with the front desk or the pro shop prior to play, and must check in their guest(s), if any, as well.

Reserving Your Tee Time, Registering Your Guests

Members may reserve golf starting times up to two weeks in advance in accordance with the Membership Plan. Members are urged to use the website or call the club in advance to avoid possible delays and to allow the staff to best serve them. Members and guests are required to register with the pro shop or front desk upon their arrival at the club.

Order of Play

All play will begin from the 1st tee unless specifically directed by the starter.

• From opening day through May 1, tee times start at 8 AM.
• From May 2 through September 7, tee times begin at 7 AM.
• From September 8 through closing day, tee times begin at 8 AM.
• Primary Members only from first tee time through the first 2 hours of play.
• Secondary Members and Guests after the first 2 hours of play.

Tee times are subject to change at any time in the discretion of management.
 
AT ALL TIMES, BUT PARTICULARLY DURING THE HOUR FOLLOWING THE FIRST TEE TIME, GOLFERS MUST YIELD TO ALL WORKERS. DO NOT PLAY INTO ANY WORKER UNLESS THAT WORKER IS FIRST MADE AWARE OF YOUR PRESENCE. PLEASE BE 100% SURE THE WORKER IS IN FACT AWARE OF YOUR PRESENCE.

Pace of Play

In order for everyone to enjoy playing golf at Hollow Brook, we remind you of two traditional elements of proper golf etiquette:

• Please always play without delay;
• When there is a clear hole ahead, invite properly constituted matches through.
• Walking is restricted for the first 3 hours of tee times on weekends and holidays.

Slow play will not be tolerated. Four hours and fifteen minutes is the acceptable pace of play for a four-ball. Our golf staff will monitor the pace of play.

We at Hollow Brook are fortunate to have a beautiful golf course that is consistently in excellent condition. To help our greens crew maintain the course, please make sure that:

• When taking practice swings take care not to make a divot. If a divot is made on the tee box, fill the divot with the soil and sand mix available on each tee. Always replace the divots in both the fairway and rough;
• Repair ball marks on the greens;
• Drive carts only where allowed and never within 20 yards of a green. Carts should be driven in the rough or on the paths using a 90-degree angle to go into or across the fairway;
• Make sure not to damage the area around the edge of the hole when removing a flag from the cup or replacing it;
• Always rake the sand in the bunkers;
• Encourage other players in your group to observe these rules.

All tournament contestants have an obligation to learn, understand and play within USGA Rules of Golf.

Appropriate attire is required. It is the responsibility of the members to inform their guests, prior to visiting the club, of the dress code policy. Should a member hold or sponsor an event, it is the member’s responsibility to notify guests, entertainment, photographer, volunteers, etc. of this policy.
 
Men’s Golf Attire includes slacks, walking or Bermuda shorts and collared shirts, turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks with a neck length of 1 1⁄2" or longer. Shorts must be mid-thigh length or longer. Shirt tails must be tucked in at all times. 
 
Women’s Golf Attire includes slacks, walking or Bermuda shorts, skirts, collared and/or sleeved shirts, turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks with a neck length of 1 1⁄2" or longer. Shorts and skirts must be mid-thigh length or longer.
 
Golf Attire is appreciated in all dining areas. Jeans are permitted in the clubhouse and dining areas.

Inappropriate attire includes shorts and skirts that are shorter than mid-thigh length, sweat pants, cargo pants and shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, swimming or tennis attire and jeans on the golf course.

The practice range will be open on all days when the course is open. Range ball fees are included in the club’s annual billing.

As of January 1, 2020, the USGA and The R&A launched the World Handicap System. The new handicap system is designed to create a single set of rules for handicaps, provide a consistent measurement of a golfer's playing ability, and create more flexibility in applying a player's handicap to competitive or recreational rounds.

The major changes include:

• Flexibility in formats of play, allowing both competitive and recreational rounds to count for handicap purposes and ensuring that a golfer’s handicap is more reflective of potential ability
• A minimal number of scores needed to obtain a new handicap; a recommendation that the number of scores needed to obtain a new handicap be 54 holes from any combination of 18-hole and 9-hole rounds, but with some discretion available for national or regional associations to set a different minimum within their own jurisdiction
• A consistent handicap that is portable from course to course and country to country through worldwide use of the USGA Course and Slope Rating System, already successfully used in more than 80 countries
• An average-based calculation of a handicap, taken from the best eight out of the last 20 scores and factoring in memory of demonstrated ability for better responsiveness and control
• A calculation that considers the impact that abnormal course and weather conditions might have on a player’s performance each day
• Daily handicap revisions, taking account of the course and weather conditions calculation
• A limit of Net Double Bogey on the maximum hole score (for handicapping purposes only). Example: A Course Handicap of 18 receives one stroke per hole for 18 holes; the player’s max score is triple bogey on any hole, which equals a Net Double Bogey.
• A maximum handicap limit of 54.0, regardless of gender, to encourage more golfers to measure and track their performance to increase their enjoyment of the game

Our Tournament and Handicap Committee and PGA Professional staff is available to answer questions and to help our members apply the new World Handicap System.

Clubhouse: Cellphone usage is permitted everywhere in the clubhouse. However, we ask that you do not speak on your phone while in the dining areas. 
 
Golf Course: If you must place or receive a phone call on the golf course, you may do so from the cart on the way to your ball, on the tee box or behind the green after putting out. Playing partners and other golfers should be unaware of the call, and it should not slow up play. If necessary, skip the hole.
 
Cellphones used at Hollow Brook must be on vibrate and not have an audible ring.

In large part, the success of our continued membership growth depends upon our members and your willingness to help. While great golf comes first, it is the cohesiveness of our membership that makes Hollow Brook truly remarkable. The club’s liquor license is issued under the jurisdiction of the New York State Liquor Authority. This does not allow for the sale of alcohol to anyone under the age of twenty-one (21). Legal identification of age must be presented upon request. This ruling is strictly enforced. Staff is required to check for proper identification.
 
Alcohol purchases are for consumption on Club grounds only. Alcohol is not to be transported onto or off Club grounds by members, their families or their guests.
 
It is the responsibility of the staff to deny alcoholic beverages to anyone who appears intoxicated.
 
An intoxicated person is not permitted to operate a vehicle upon leaving Club grounds. If necessary, the Club will arrange an alternate form of transportation. The General Manager and the staff are authorized to strictly enforce this policy.
 
The management is sincerely concerned with the safety of all members, their families and their guests. Time spent at the club should be enjoyable. We would also like to fulfill our responsibilities as members of the community.

Smoking is NOT PERMITTED inside any part of the clubhouse, or any covered area outside of the clubhouse. This includes the entire clubhouse, all covered and uncovered patios, the veranda by the Pavilion, the pro shop/bag storage room or any maintenance buildings. 

Smoking IS PERMITTED on the golf course only.

Follow Strawberry Road to the end (approx 3/4 mile) and turn right onto Red Mill Road.

Follow around the traffic circle and take 2nd right out of the circle onto Oregon Road.
Go past Hollow Brook Mews, through 2 traffic lights.

Merge onto New York 9A N/US-9 N via the ramp to Peekskill
Continue on US-9 N
Continue onto Bear Mountain State Pkwy
Turn right toward N. Division St
Turn left at N. Division St
Continue onto Oregon Rd.

Taconic State Parkway South
Take US-6 exit in Jefferson Valley toward Mahopac/Shrub Oak.
Turn right onto Route 6 West.
After 1.5 miles, turn right onto Strawberry Road.
Follow Strawberry Road to the end (approx 3/4 mile) and turn right onto Red Mill Road.
